Capitalism taught you to chase a pre-defined blueprint for success

The illusion of following someone else’s paths

Life is uncertain, but not in the world of business.

We accept inconceivable changes in real life, but buy into someone else’s promise of a perfect future. It’s what marketing teaches.

Identify pain > sell the solution.

Not just that, but overcome people’s hesitations – cover all the bases. If you’re skeptical or uninterested? It’s your loss, not theirs.

They’re thriving whilst you’re still living a life of uncertainty. But it’s all an illusion designed to profit as much as possible, and increase on it year-on-year.

The thing is, scarcity works.

In a society where peer pressure, trends and a fear of being different triumps – capitalising on insecurity is the easiest way to sell.

You buy into the perfect future because it’s scary to walk your own path.

It’s uncertain when the one leading the way is you.

Trusting yourself to have the right ideas and make the best decisions? A risk.

And it’s that fear, that exact insecurity, that propels the system further and further.

Some questions to help reflect on how this could be impacting you:

  • What would you do differently if you trusted yourself?
  • What advertising would no longer cause feelings of fear or guilt that drives you to get sucked into another purchase?
